Automatic Surface Finishing Solution for Individual Stainless Steel Sheets

The Stainless Steel Sheet-to-Sheet Grinding & Polishing Line is designed for automated surface finishing of individual stainless steel sheets.

Description

The Stainless Steel Sheet-to-Sheet Grinding & Polishing Line is designed for automated surface finishing of individual stainless steel sheets.

Unlike coil-to-coil processing, sheet production does not use decoiling and recoiling as the main material handling method. Each stainless steel sheet must be individually picked up, transferred into the processing line, finished and collected after processing.

OUYIGANG integrates vacuum suction loading and unloading systems with grinding, polishing, cleaning, drying and film laminating equipment to create an automated sheet-to-sheet production workflow.

How Does the Sheet-to-Sheet Line Work?

A typical production process is:

Sheet Stacking → Vacuum Suction Loading → Sheet Feeding → Grinding / Polishing → Cleaning & Drying → Film Laminating → Automatic Unloading → Finished Sheet Stacking

The key difference from a coil line is the way the material enters and leaves the production process.

1. Vacuum Suction Loading

Raw stainless steel sheets are placed in the loading area.

The automatic loading system uses vacuum suction devices to pick up individual sheets from the stack and transfer them to the feeding section.

This reduces repeated manual handling of large stainless steel sheets and allows the loading process to coordinate with the production line.

2. Individual Sheet Feeding

After loading, each sheet is transferred separately through the line.

The feeding system guides the sheet toward the surface processing section while maintaining the required material movement and processing sequence.

Unlike continuous coil strip, every sheet has a defined leading and trailing edge, so material handling and equipment coordination are designed specifically for sheet-by-sheet production.

3. Grinding & Polishing

The main processing machine performs the required stainless steel surface finishing operation.

The line can be configured for:

Hairline · No.4 · Satin / SB · 8K Mirror · Customized Surface Finishes

The processing configuration is selected according to the required grain, surface appearance, raw material and production requirements.

4. Cleaning & Drying

After grinding or polishing, each sheet can pass through the cleaning and drying section.

Residual abrasive particles, polishing residue, water and contaminants are removed before the sheet moves to the next stage.

5. Protective Film Laminating

A protective film can be applied to the processed surface before unloading.

This helps protect the finished stainless steel sheet against scratches and contamination during stacking, storage, transportation and downstream fabrication.

6. Automatic Unloading & Stacking

After surface finishing and film protection, the sheet reaches the unloading section.

The vacuum suction handling system transfers the finished sheet from the production line to the designated stacking position.

The processed sheets can then be collected in an orderly stack for subsequent storage, packaging or further manufacturing.

Available Surface Finishing Processes

The sheet-to-sheet line can be configured with different surface finishing machines according to the required finished product.

Hairline Finish

Directional linear finish for decorative stainless steel sheets.

No.4 Finish

Uniform brushed finish commonly used for architectural and fabricated stainless steel products.

Satin / SB Finish

Soft decorative surface with lower reflectivity and a consistent appearance.

8K Mirror Finish

High-reflective mirror surface produced using a dedicated polishing process.

Different processing units can be selected according to the target finish.

Typical Line Configuration

A complete sheet-to-sheet line may include:

Why Choose a Sheet-to-Sheet Processing Line?

A sheet-to-sheet line is suitable when the raw material or finished product is handled as individual stainless steel sheets rather than continuous coils.

The automatic loading and unloading system reduces repeated manual handling between material stacking and surface processing.

More importantly, the entire line is designed around the movement of individual sheets—from picking up the raw sheet to collecting the finished sheet—allowing surface processing and material handling to operate as one coordinated production system.

It is suitable for stainless steel service centers and manufacturers processing decorative sheets, architectural panels, elevator materials, kitchen equipment, furniture panels and other sheet-based products.

Coil-to-Coil or Sheet-to-Sheet?

The required production line mainly depends on how your material is supplied and how the finished product needs to be handled.

Coil-to-Coil Line
Raw Coil → Continuous Processing → Finished Coil

Sheet-to-Sheet Line
Sheet Stack → Vacuum Loading → Individual Sheet Processing → Automatic Unloading → Finished Sheet Stack

Both line types can integrate grinding, polishing, cleaning, drying and surface protection equipment, but their material handling systems are fundamentally different.

Customized Sheet Processing Solution

OUYIGANG configures the line according to:

Sheet Length & Width → Thickness → Stainless Steel Grade → Required Finish → Sheet Weight → Production Capacity → Loading Method → Automation Level → Factory Layout

The automatic loading and unloading system and surface finishing equipment are then matched to create a complete sheet processing solution.
