Continuous Surface Finishing Solution for Stainless Steel Coils
The Stainless Steel Coil-to-Coil Grinding & Polishing Line is designed for continuous surface finishing of stainless steel coils. The line connects coil loading, decoiling, strip feeding, grinding or polishing, cleaning, surface protection and recoiling into one continuous production process.
Description
The Stainless Steel Coil-to-Coil Grinding & Polishing Line is designed for continuous surface finishing of stainless steel coils. The line connects coil loading, decoiling, strip feeding, grinding or polishing, cleaning, surface protection and recoiling into one continuous production process.
Unlike sheet processing, the material remains in continuous strip form throughout production. The stainless steel coil is unwound at the entry section, continuously transferred through the processing units, and rewound into a finished coil at the end of the line.
OUYIGANG can configure the line according to the required material width, thickness, surface finish, production capacity and automation level.

How Does the Coil-to-Coil Line Work?
A typical production process is:
Coil Loading → Hydraulic Decoiling → Paper Rewinding → Pinch Feeding & Leveling → Grinding / Polishing → Cleaning & Drying → Film Laminating → Tension / Transfer → Hydraulic Recoiling
1. Coil Loading & Decoiling
The raw stainless steel coil is transferred to the decoiler by a hydraulic coil loading car. The hydraulic decoiler supports the coil and continuously unwinds the stainless steel strip into the production line.
If protective interleaving paper is present between the coil layers, a paper rewinding unit can be integrated to separate and collect the paper during decoiling.
2. Feeding & Leveling
After decoiling, the stainless steel strip passes through the feeding and leveling section. Pinch rollers guide the strip forward, while the leveling structure helps reduce residual coil curvature and prepares the material for stable downstream processing.
3. Grinding & Polishing
The main surface finishing section is configured according to the required finish.
Different machine configurations can be selected for:
Hairline · No.4 · Satin / SB · 8K Mirror · Customized Surface Finishes
Grinding heads, polishing units, abrasive systems and process parameters are selected according to the target surface and material condition.
4. Cleaning & Drying
After surface processing, the strip can pass through a cleaning and drying unit to remove polishing residue, abrasive particles, water and other contaminants from the surface.
A clean and dry surface is important before protective film application and final recoiling.
5. Protective Film Laminating
Protective film can be continuously applied to the finished stainless steel surface to reduce scratches and contamination during recoiling, handling, storage and transportation.
6. Tension Control & Recoiling
At the end of the line, the processed strip is guided toward the hydraulic recoiler. The recoiling system works with the relevant guiding and tension units to rewind the continuously processed strip into a finished stainless steel coil.
Available Surface Finishing Processes
The production line can be configured around different surface finishing machines rather than being limited to one fixed process.
Hairline Finish
Produces continuous directional lines for decorative stainless steel applications.
No.4 Finish
Creates a uniform brushed surface widely used for decorative and industrial stainless steel products.
Satin / SB Finish
Produces a softer, low-reflective decorative surface.
8K Mirror Finish
Uses a dedicated polishing configuration to produce a highly reflective mirror surface.
The actual configuration depends on the customer’s required finish, raw material condition and production target.

Why Choose a Coil-to-Coil Processing Line?
For customers processing stainless steel in coil form, continuous production reduces repeated material loading and unloading between individual processing stages.
The coil-to-coil structure allows the strip to move continuously from raw coil to finished coil, making it suitable for stainless steel service centers and manufacturers requiring continuous surface processing.
It is especially suitable when the finished material needs to remain in coil form for further slitting, cutting, forming or downstream manufacturing.
Customized Coil Processing Solution
A complete line should be configured around the actual material and production target.
Before recommending a solution, OUYIGANG evaluates:
Coil Width & Thickness → Stainless Steel Grade → Raw Coil Condition → Required Finish → Production Capacity → Automation Level → Factory Layout
Based on these conditions, the grinding or polishing machine and auxiliary production line components can be combined into an appropriate coil-to-coil processing system.
